What a great time to be alive! I’m continuously amazed at the technology we have available to use. We often forget how astounding it is to have the power to retrieve almost any information and communicate in a thousand different ways using a device that fits in your pocket.

There is always something new to look out for and with the new year just rolling in, we can’t help but look at the horizon full of hope and wonder.

Here we’ve rounded up the 5 marketing trends to look out for that will most certainly dominate 2017.

  1. Live Video Streaming

Social media users are beginning to demand more real-time content. While this hasn’t been previously available to everyday users, it is now within reach for millions of us. Thanks to faster Internet and the complexity and sophistication of mobile devices, live video has become something of a trend on its own.

How to make the most of it?

Got a big launch coming up? A new product release? Why not stream the big event live! Redecorated the office? Show the whole world! Attending a networking event? Stream live and encourage people to connect with you!

Brands will be seeking to increase their visibility by paying for adverts. Facebook and Instagram are increasingly giving priority to sponsored posts. Marketers will be investing in such Ads to ensure their content stands out.

Start small and see what results your ads deliver. You don’t have to spend thousands on sponsored content or advertising. You can spend as much or as little as you want, so don’t be discouraged.

2016 was a big year for mobile. With 80% of internet users owning a smartphone and 4 out of 5 consumers using smartphones to shop, it is impossible to ignore this growing trend.

We have witnessed Google virtually phase-out all websites not optimised for mobile, so it comes as a no surprise that mobile is going to be BIG this year. Mobile users are shoppers, so unless they can reach you on their smart phone, you risk losing money.

Not much practical advice could be given at this point simply because we don’t know what the changes would be and when they would be coming in power. What is always a good strategy however is to remain original, innovative and offer insightful content that your audience values and comes back to.
