Change is Good….isn’t it?

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” – Albert Einstein

In business there is no truer statement that could be made, how many times have business buried their head in the sand and continued to plug away, doing the same thing with the same people, and yet expected to get themselves out of that hole or to break through to the next level? My gut feel, would be too many times.

So why do businesses do it? Is it because they are blind to the oncoming issues and hope, that a miracle will happen and that big ball of issues rolling their way will somehow swerve past them if they just carry on? Or is it because it’s safer, warmer and more inviting to stay in their comfort zone?

Whatever the reasons, they are not going to get the results that they want.

So how do you change things when the storm is on the horizon?

Here are a few of my suggestions that I’ve seen played out over the years: –

  1. Change direction – When that storm is peaking over the horizon and you see those big, nasty black clouds, you can turn the wheel and head off towards a new niche market, or maybe a new group  or even change businesses. Not every storm can be avoided but a slight change of direction can be a good way of avoiding those black clouds ahead

  2. Raise your banners – By banners I mean, your marketing. How many businesses out there have had issues which they have resolved thanks to not shutting up shot or battening the hatches to stop their marketing spend. Marketing is there to bring you an audience and to help you either maintain or ultimately grow the business.

  3. Adapt your sales – One of the best things about sales in business, is the fact that they are almost certainly measureable. You know the conversation you’ve had, you know what the customer will want to see and you know if the sale has been made. So that means you can tweak it. If you are missing that killer qualifier or that killer close isn’t working, then change it, tweak it and see if it works.

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their mind cannot change anything” – George Bernard Shaw

If you know something isn’t working, why wouldn’t you seek help to make that change and steer to calmer seas and avoid the storm?

One thing that you can do to make that change is to use our Business Accelerator Test and get a review of your sales and marketing, giving you advice and options to make the changes you need to make.
