A Major Upgrade of our Hardware and Software Infrastructure is coming – Some changes that you need to be aware of

Our goal here at InTouch is to provide the best possible software application for you to use to grow your business. You may have seen a blog I shared a couple of days ago about how we are focusing our development efforts on improving InTouch to allow you to convert more prospects into customers. A major part of that focus is ensuring we make the application run as quickly as we can so that you can get on with the job of winning new business.


Since we started InTouch in 2005, we have always invested in our infrastructure and we have since 2007 worked with Rackspace as a hosting provider to ensure we have the right servers and platforms in place to deliver a quick, stable and secure system. Rackspace have done a brilliant job and have been excellent partners over the last 10 years but we decided a few months ago to review the marketplace and ensure we are working with a partner that can help us move forward over the next 10 years of our journey!

Technology moves on at a pace and this coupled with new regulations (GDPR is coming next May which will have huge implications for all organisations – more to follow on this soon) means it was vital we chose a partner that shared our values and way of working. We get approached on a regular basis by hosting providers but we have been chatting to the team at UK Fast for several years now and we have been very impressed with their approach to business and their service ethic. When we held our review, we asked UK Fast to quote to provide our infrastructure and we were blown away by the approach of the team and how keen they were to work with us. We questioned them long and hard about the reliability of their technology and how they could ensure that we delivered a platform that was always available as the first rule of any online software is that it must be available to be used!

After speaking to a few of their other customers, we decided that after 10 years of being with the same provider, the time was right for change and so we decided to change our hosting provider and move to UK Fast. It will be a shame to leave Rackspace but we are excited at the thought of working with the UK Fast team and using their knowledge and expertise to help us drive InTouch forward.

No change comes without some effort and work and that is certainly the case with a move of an infrastructure like ours but we believe it will be worth it for our customers. We are upgrading our server hardware and software within the move and moving onto technology which is more modern so we expect to see some benefits from this now and helps us future proof the system.

Our technical team have been working very hard to make the transition as smooth and as seamless as possible and we will of course be ensuring that all of your accounts, information and key data are moved across securely as part of this change. It is simply impossible however for us to make this change of provider without taking down the InTouch application however and so we will be taking all of our systems down to make the move on Friday 28th July at 5pm and putting them back up again at 10pm on Sunday 30th July.

We hope that we will be able to complete the work we need to within a shorter space of time but with but with thousands of accounts and millions of data records, its simply impossible for us to keep everything up and running whilst we make the change. There are some aspects which we will look to make you aware of during this change and we will continue to inform and remind you of this change over the course of the next few weeks but we wanted to give you an early heads up now that the system will not be available between these times.

For any of our customers who host webforms and websites with us, we will work with you to ensure that this downtime causes as little disruption to you as possible. There will be some though for which we apologise but we believe this is a change for the better and one which will help us improve our service to you from August onwards.


All software companies live and die by their availability and uptime and we are proud of our record over the last 12 years. We want to improve even further though and so see this move to UK Fast as 1 step in us doing just that and so we hope that you can over the weekend of the 28-30th July have some time off with your family and friends! We hope the weather will be good then as well although our technical team will have to gaze through the window at the sun!


All of our team here at InTouch are available to answer any questions you may have regarding the change and we will probably over communicate about this downtime in the next few weeks but we believe that is better than you trying to login to the system and finding it’s not there!
