3 Fixed Date Automated Campaigns for Your Small Business

Marketing has evolved a lot in the last few years. The era of only sending out flyers, paying for billboards, and (gasp) cold-calling leads is long gone … which should put a big smile on salespeoples’ faces everywhere. These methods were a bit of a shot at the dark, they were (and still are) costly, time consuming and the results were difficult to measure. After all, how could you possibly know how many people have seen your billboard?

Multitasking made easier

Today, we live in the marketing automation era. And let me tell you this, marketing automation is godsend to busy marketers and small business owners struggling to find time to follow up with every single sale lead. What marketing automation allows you to do is deliver targeted, personalized campaigns to the right people at precisely the right time. It delivers measurable results that could be tracked and reports you could learn from.

Awesome, right?

So today I would like to show you how to create your very first InTouch Fixed Date Automated Campaign and give you 3 practical ideas for campaigns you can create today for your business.

But first things first.

What is a Fixed Date Automated Campaign?

Just like with any other automated campaign, the Fixed-date Automated Campaign function within InTouch allows you to schedule a marketing campaign for a set date in the future.

What makes the Fixed-date Automated Campaign different from a Linear or any other Date Based Campaign is that you can send it on a particular date. Fixed-date automation is where you can create a series of actions, including email and SMS communications, on specific calendar dates and times.

How does it work?

Creating a Fixed-date automated campaign takes just a few clicks and a few simple steps.

Here is a step by step guide to setting up your first Fixed-date automated campaign.

How do I build fixed date automations?

To make it even easier for you, here are 3 examples of Fixed-date automated campaigns you can copy for your own business.

Some practical ideas for Fixed Date Automated Campaigns include:

  • Birthdays
  • Anniversaries with the company
  • Holidays such as a campaign in the run up to Halloween, Christmas, St Valentine’s Day etc.

All these are great suggestions for fixed date automated campaigns. Need more ideas? Check out this wonderful website that has a list of all special dates and national holidays in the UK.

For instance did you know that 9th to 15th October is National Curry week? Great if you are in the restaurant business but even if you are not, you can schedule an email to go out with a little joke like ‘Our deals are hotter than a curry!’.

21st November for instance is World Hello Day and is also a great opportunity to send SMS message saying ‘Today is World Hello Day. We say Hello to you and challenge you to say Hello to at least 10 people today. Would you do it?’ It’s fun, it’s interactive but most of all, it’s memorable and non-salesly which means it will help you strengthen your relationship with the receiver. Sit down with your team and look at the calendar between now and the end of the year. Are there any special dates in the calendar that you can base a marketing campaign around?

So you have an event scheduled for the 16 November. Why not create a campaign about it?

  • First action: Send SMS – On the morning of the event send a reminder SMS to all attendees reminding them that the event they have signed up for is taking place today. Remind them of the time, the venue and any documents they need to bring (Like a pass or event ticket).
  • Second action: Send an email – On the morning of the event send an email with all the information your attendees will need. This would include – the full address of the venue, parking options, hotels near by, the agenda of the event, a list of the speakers at the event etc.
  • Third action: Send SMS – During the day, send SMS updates as to what is happening next. For example: ‘At 1pm a Talk from Mark Goodsen on how to grow your small business faster’
Fourth action: After the event, send a thank you email to all attendees. You can even attach a survey to the email and ask for some feedback.

This is an easy to emulate campaign you can create in a few simple steps that would serve as a reminder to all attendees as well as it would update them on what’s happening when.

Halloween, Christmas, New Years Eve etc. are the types of campaigns you can create months in advance. You know when the campaign needs to go out, why not create it now instead of waiting for December when you might be so busy?

  • First Action: Send an email – A short and friendly email wishing your customers Merry Christmas shows that you care. How about this for content:

Hi %FirstName%,

We would just like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

We hope you enjoy the christmas period and wish you all a very prosperous new year.

Our office is now closed until the 2nd of January. If you need to speak with us during this period, please email info@yourbusiness.com.

Once again best wishes from all of us for the holiday season and thank you for all your support in 2017!

Sending Christmas Cheer,
Your Name

  • Second Action: Send SMS – A sweet and short email would be perfect and would easily put a smile on your customers’ faces. Try ‘Merry Christmas from all of us at Your Business!’

This campaign takes minutes to create and once scheduled you don’t have to worry about it. It takes the pressure of you to be thinking about this in the eve of the holidays, it informs your clients about your holiday working hours and is a friendly reminder that you think about your customers even during this most special (albeit hectic) time of the year.

Remember those UK National Days link I shared with you earlier? Here it is again and here is an example how to use it.

World Heart Day takes place on 29 September every year and is a chance for people across the globe to take part in the world’s biggest intervention against cardiovascular disease (CVD). So why not take advantage of this fact and run a campaign. Something like this:

  • First action – Send an email – You can send a quick email reminding your customers what day it is today and announcing that you will be donating some money to an appropriate charity. Here is a sample content:

Hi %FirstName%,

Today is World Heart Day and to show our dedication to helping others we will be donating part of today’s proceeds to the World heart Federation.

Heart disease is something that can happen to anybody and we would like to do anything in our power to prevent heart diseases and help find a cure for some of the most dangerous heart illnesses. If you would like to take part and make a difference, purchase from us today.

A chunk of all proceeds we generate today will go to this amazing heart charity.

A small purchase from you, could make all the difference!

Your Name
This is a great way to show customers your philanthropic side and that you care about something else than profits by being willing to donate.
