Can a customer video help your small business grow?
I think so, and here are the 3 reasons why.

A video is a great way to tell a story. Especially if it is the story of your business and how you help your customers.

No matter how good your business is, self-promotion is always taken with a pinch of salt. And why not, who in their right mind would say anything bad about their own company.

As you may know, testimonials are very important for the growth of any business and its reputation. They are sincere and convincing since they come from 3rd parties rather than people who work for the organization.

Instead of stating claims (We are the best car dealers in your area), testimonials validate them (These guys really are the best car dealers in my area. I should know, I am their customer!). Testimonials instil confidence in future buyers and prompts them to take an action.

So when it comes to customer videos testimonials, I believe them to be the most convincing, efficient and authentic form of marketing that can help you grow your business and attract more customers. And here are the 3 reasons why.

Reason # 1 – Cost Effective

Contrary to what you may have heard, creating a good quality video is not that costly (maybe £500-£1000). Try talking to a local college or school and see if there are students interested in helping you. They can use the video as a project, and you get a quality film developed for a fraction of the price that others may charge. Win-win situation!

Reason #2 – Promote your Business

Videos are a great way to put a face to your story, humanize it if you like. Videos tend to get more responses than images or plain text just because of the human factor interaction. It is also something different and interesting that requires a lot less effort. Usually you will have to spend some time interpreting an image or reading text, but a video… you just click play and it tells a story for you, your story, your business success story.

Reason #3 – It makes future customers trust you

As I previously mentioned, self-promotion and business advertising are always taken with a grain of salt (or more like a spoonful of it). So in order for you to gain prospects trust, you will have to show them you really are as good as you claim to be.

When a potential customer watches a video testimonial they think 2 things:

  • Firstly, wow this business must really be good if the person in the video speaks so highly of them
  • Secondly, wow this business must be amazing if this person in the video has taken the time and effort to help promote them. He must really be impressed with this company!

People interact with people, not with businesses. So show them what problems you have solved for others, problems that they are experiencing too. By humanizing your products and services, putting a face to them and showing how passionate others are to be your clients, you will make your company stand out and seem more real and therefore the more desirable choice.

So here they are, the 3 reasons why I think that customer video testimonials can and will take your business to the next level.
